At my studio, I offer mindful, encouraging piano instruction for students of all ages and experience levels. My teaching specializes in classical piano training, with flexibility to incorporate each student’s personal musical interests.
Lessons focus on building a solid technical foundation, musical literacy, and confidence at the piano. Students are supported in developing both discipline and creativity, allowing them to grow into expressive and independent musicians.
Instruction is available in person in Edmonton, online, and in-home by request.
About the Teacher
Musical Training, Credentials & Experience
I am a classically trained pianist with a lifelong dedication to music education, performance, and collaborative musicianship. I bring over six years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and stages of musical development.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Music and Psychology from the University of Alberta, and I am currently enrolled in the Performer’s Certificate in Piano at The King’s University, where I study under Dr. Joachim Segger. I also hold the ARCT Performer’s Certificate and all Advanced Music Theory certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
I have studied classical piano since the age of four, with advanced private training under Raymond Yundt, whose pedagogical approach continues to influence and inspire my own teaching. My musical training has included extensive performance experience through competitions, festivals, and masterclasses, providing opportunities to learn from many acclaimed musicians, including Dr. Michel Fournier.
My performance achievements include multiple first-prize awards at regional music festivals, provincial award, and scholarships with my piano duo partner. Most recently, I was honoured to receive the Gerry Segger Scholarship in Music Performance.
In addition to solo performance, I have over four years of experience accompanying community choirs and a strong background in collaborative and chamber music, including piano ensembles for six hands and eight hands on two pianos. I am deeply passionate about incorporating collaborative music-making into my studio, whether between students, siblings, or teacher and student, as I believe collaboration is a vital skill that enriches musicianship and musical understanding.
My broader musical experience also includes voice studies, chamber choir participation, violin lessons, and performance in a church orchestra, where I have played piano, violin, and guitar. This diverse musical background allows me to approach teaching holistically and adapt lessons to each student’s unique learning style and musical goals.
Teaching Philosophy
Lessons are guided by the belief that every student learns differently and that meaningful musical growth flourishes in a supportive, structured environment. Lesson formats and practice plans are carefully tailored to each student’s age, goals, and individual learning style.
Strong emphasis is placed on proper technique, healthy practice habits, and sophisticated musical understanding. These fundamentals support long-term development and allow students to approach music with confidence and freedom.
While rooted in classical training, students are encouraged to develop their own artistic voice. By balancing structure with expression, lessons aim to nurture a lifelong appreciation for music and a deep sense of personal connection to the piano.
